Sanjiv Dhawan is the founder of Frederick Banting International School and Guru Tegh Bahadur International School (GTBIS) in Canada. Born in Punjab province of India, he has worked in various educational institutions as a teacher, mentor, principal, and managing director. Sanjiv originally founded Olivia International School/learning center in Amritsar (India).
Sanjiv has his Masters in Business Administration and MSc (Honours.), and has worked as part of a research fellowship in the Department of Business Management, at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar. Sanjiv has worked at DAV College in Amritsar as a lecturer, as principal of Guru Teg Bahadur College of commerce and management studies, as well as Director of the Backward Classes Development Board. In Canada, he has tutored and mentored students from primary to University level. Furthermore, he has mentored thousands of students; preparing them for various competitive examinations including: fashion, administrative work, management as well as other academic fields.
Sanjiv is more than just an educator, he has made four presentations at Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration in an attempt to bring about various immigration reforms. He also made presentations at various international organizations, including the World Trade Organization. Sanjiv was involved in human rights advocacy as the President of Human Rights Action Committee.
Sanjiv has also worked with many media organizations in Canada. He has worked as a talk-show host on Sur Sagar TV, where he interviewed Canadian and Indian politicians, as well as Hollywood and Bollywood stars. He also worked as a host for Radio Humsafar in Montreal. He also participated in CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications commission) hearings on behalf of SSTV (a CRTC approved channel operating in the Greater Toronto Area). Sanjiv has also worked for newspapers including Parvasi Newspaper and Hindi Times. Additionally, he was interviewed by Canada AM (CTV) along with other media outlets.
